Calista Phair was an intern for City Councilmembers Robbie Perkins & Jim Kee for two months during the fall semester of 2011. The City of Greensboro is fortunate to have six colleges and universities, and Calista was tasked with exploring ways the City could reach out and connect with this 18-24-year-old demographic. Calista created and planned the 2011 Youth Engagement Summit. She took initiative in marketing the event which included press releases, flyers, social media marketing and built relationships with local colleges and universities creating interest in the event. She also worked diligently to secure speakers for the event, which included several City Councilmembers, department heads, and civic leaders. The summit brought in over 80 young adults and presented ways they could engage in City activities including jobs and internship opportunities.
